ProteinFactory.com has been in business for over 10 years now. In that time period I have written hundreds of articles about protein supplementation, bodybuilding, weight loss, muscle gain, and pretty much everything and anything. In those 10 years, I have also given advice via over the phone and email to thousands of people. Telling them what they should eat, what protein they should use, what time to use them, and how to make a custom formula. I have given this advice from people ranging from old ladies, to joe schmo bodybuilder, to professional athletes. Better body seekers come to my website or any other bodybuilding website for that matter and just assume I am an expert in this field. People also go to other bodybuilding websites and seek advice. The most popular of course are the message boards. These message boards are filled to the brim self proclaimed experts and people giving advice out the wazu. And people trust the advice of other people the best because it fits into the “word of mouth” category. And no form of advertising is the better than world of mouth.

But lets just say you are about 30 years old and have been training for 15 years and you want to know what supplement to use for muscle growth. You post it up on some message board and you get “reply’s” back telling you what new supplement is the best for muscle growth. Most of the time the persons reasoning is the “results” they achieved with this certain supplement. “I gained like 10lbs using this NO2 product”. But the scary part is…Who is the actual person posting this comment? Is it a kid that is 15 years old? Is it a guy that is in horrible shape? Is he a paid moderator? This is the problem with the message boards. You really never know who is giving you advice and what his credentials are. Granted, yes there are a few message boards with bonafide supplement experts our there, and I don’t mean the guys that have 10,000 posts. Real experts, guys that are IN the business, like myself. If you want advice you need to go to website’s that have experts monitoring these boards. Or better yet, email a supplement company your question instead of letting an 18 year old personal trainer helping you on the board. Thus this leads me to my main subject. The experts themselves.



Let us say for example you want to get better at a certain sport. Let’s take baseball. What would be your first step in learning how to play baseball better? Would it be going out to Barnes and Noble and buying a book on how to play baseball better? I would say, no. Would it be going to a baseball message board and posing questions? Bad idea. Would it be to go out and find a “coach” that knows the game of baseball who is a supposed expert in the game? Yes. The “coach” is the way to go. And this “coach” should be an expert in the game of baseball. The quality of the coach would obviously be his credentials. Was he an ex-pro player or was he just a high school player that got cut his junior year? You get where I’m heading. If you are going to take advice from someone you better make sure he can back it up with more than talk and a lot of “posts” on a message board somewhere. If I was going to take advice on how to get better at baseball I would rather take advice from Barry Bonds and not some fat-guy who is just a big baseball fan and thinks he knows a lot about the game. For bodybuilding advice you want to take your advice from someone obviously who is an expert. Being an expert in bodybuilding you want to make sure the expert has two things in this repertoire. Wisdom. The more wisdom the better because this bodybuilding expert with wisdom knows or should know about all the bullshit fads and bogus supplements. Second, the expert should be in shape!!! No shit, really? Why would anyone take advice from someone that is not in shape!



Every now and then I’ll go to other supplement companies websites to see what they are up to. One particular supplement company, probably the biggest one, I clicked on view corporate officers. They were all lined up in a row, with all their big guts sticking out of their polo shirts. Listen, if you are going to own a supplement company at least don’t be overweight and outta shape. I’m not saying you have to look like Mr. Olympia, but at least don’t look like shit. This brings me to my final thought. Wouldn’t it suck after all of these years if it turns out that I was just an outta-shape schmo giving advice to thousands of people just trying to pimp my protein powders? Most of you don’t know what I look like. People call me up and ask for my advice. I tell them my protein powders are better than anyone else’s. Mainly my CFM Whey Isolate, which will give you better results than a Whey Protein Concentrate, you know the 5lbs container that everyone is buying for $29.99. Trust me when I say that a Whey Isolate and mixing protein sources is better. Or my Hydrolyzed Proteins are better than anyone else’s. My supplements like Unleashed and Rifle Protein Tabs really work. How do I know? I personally use them and have used them for the last 10 years. I’m 34. I don’t use steroids, or pro-hormones, I work a shit load of hours every week, play sports, take care of my gardens (for some reason I love perennials), and most importantly spending time with my family. I work out about 2 to 3 days a week for 30 minutes or less. I use my supplements only. I eat whatever I feel like on the weekends, mainly pizza, and ice cream and barbeque and beer. Needless to say it pays to use quality proteins and not mass market products.
