[Fox Sports] Kobe will be part of U.S. team

Kobe Bryant plans to play for the U.S. team at this year's world basketball championships and the 2008 Olympics.

Bryant gave an emphatic nod to joining the U.S. team in a meeting Friday with the head of USA Basketball, Jerry Colangelo.

"I had a previous conversation with him and we said we would meet again when he came to Phoenix," Colangelo said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "He's really excited about it. He's really kind of juiced about representing the United States.

I used to be the biggest kobe hater out there, especially when his greed and desire for being "the chosen one" in LA is what broke up a dynasty. However, i think if there is anyone who's going to come close to being the next MJ its kobe. He's got the spectacular physical game, but i think its his mental game that will seperate him from lebron, wade, carter.......etc. Look at his game face and how he carries himself..............he reminds me of a young.......pre-champion jordan w/ out the charisma that jordan had. He's putting up the #'s of a young jordan too, and he's got the right coach for it.
