Tenist elbow

I've been lifting for around 15 years now; but until now (I guess I'm getting old ) I've been having this sharp pain in elbow joint.
Any advice on how to deal with it before going to chiropractor?
Thanks in advance
- Fernando

Try some Ibuprofen and for an elbow you may have better luck with an orthro.

ICE, REST, NSAIDS ( your choice ) with rest being the most important for healing

I would not use NSAIDS. There are studies showing they interfere with protein metabolism and prevent healing of the injury.

I've tried glucosamine and condroitin, Aflutop and Adequen and none of them did squat.

This stuff seems to be working.

I don't think protein metabolism is the problem; it is inflammation of the tendon...so I guess if it interfered with collegen synthesis than we wouldn't use it would we.....

Dead on. Massage helped me as well too. The chiro really didn't do much. You just have to rest it and get the massage therapist to work out the scar tissue.

Good luck!!

You are correct. Protein metabolism is not the problem. The reason it is mentioned is that if you take NSAIDS for inflammation you are wasting your time working out or using steroids. They halt the growth process.

So, we have a double edged sword. You work out and get inflammation possibly due to your ability to lift more weight than your joints/tendons have the capability to handle, but then you halt muscular growth by using an anti inflammatory to heal it.

Interesting dilema.

That would be the rest component mentioned above...you don't work out. Use of available treatment modalities including ice/heat rest and massage to name a few - no more working out for the interim. If doing a bulking cycle one should include EQ or Deca to increase collegen synthesis. This helps to prevent or at very least ameliorate, the tendonitis associated with muscles growing faster than tendons. We are treating the injury - not worrying about growth that can be gained at a later time when your body is back in balance.

To cease working out is not an option for me. I can lose a half in from my arms and an inch to 1 and a half inches from my chest within 2 weeks of not working out. It's not worth it.

I think you are missing the point once again - this forum is for information on how to treat the injury
