Rep Power: 5 ![]() | Hernias! What is your thoughts? I am 6'1 205. I am coming off a triple hernia a year ago. Not sure if it was hereditary. Fucking weird but I had a femoral, inguinial, and umbilical hernias. I feel good now, just have to breathe correctly, wear a belt and use slow controlled motion on lifts and abs. Feel good though and now lifting for about 2 months. What are your thoughts and opinion on lifting and ab exercises. i have developed some small love handles because i have not been doing abs. please assist me if you can... bak

Rep Power: 10 ![]() | I found a few decent sites with info..........here is one: How long does... Im sure that you have all of this memorized by now, but others might find some of it interesting. As for the ab workouts, most of the info that I could find didnt go one way or the other. A lot of the doctors said that by strengthening the three layers of abdominal muslces the changes of re-injury might decrease and then again they might increase. They suggested to try it for a few weeks at a slow pace and see how you feel.

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | they just say what all docs would say. don't lift so heavy, etc... the hernias in the groins where in early early stages, but the umbilical was from stress i think. the others they said i should have fixed seeing i was going under and keep it to one surgery. i waited a year to touch any weights, and now been lifting for about 2 months. i will keep the ab exercises to bare minimum. maybe start with just like 3 set of 20-25 depedning on the exercise. let me know what you find out. bak

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | I had my third inguinal hernia operated on about two years ago. They used the mesh and I was back playing hockey (which uses abs a lot) in 3 weeks. Unless your surgery was messed up, you should be back to at least as good as normal (after all, you were exercising all those years with weaknesses in the muscles you didn't know about). Still, if you're worried, take it slow. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() | yes i still haven't incorporated abs in the program yet. i figure the intense workouts i do will keep the gut in check and somewhat flat. i will start the slow routine of abs here soon with about 3 sets all different exercises and see how it goes for a month or so. thanks bak

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | What more is there to say? Just take it slow and see how you feel.
