Toronto Blue Jays Minor-Leaguer Suspended for Steroid Violation
Toronto Blue Jays minor-league pitcher Edward Rodriguez received a 50-game suspension for using steroids.
Rodriguez has pitched in six games this season for the Class A Lansing Lugnuts in Michigan, allowing 15 hits in 10 innings and compiling a 4.50 earned run average.
Major League Baseball has suspended 10 minor-league players this season for breaking rules against performance-enhancing drugs, with a 50-game suspension imposed for a first offense. No major leaguers have been penalized for steroid use this season.
Blue Jays spokesman Will Hill didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
