Rep Power: 5 ![]() | In a close show, knowing how to pose effectively can mean being in or out of top 5. Pre judge determines how you are palced, so nailing the turns and mandatories is a must. Have seen competitors in shape who could not display themselves properly and were penalized for it. Pre contest practice is so important. I help moderate a forum in which I have a posing tip of the week section, http://www.chucksgym.com. Posing is showing yourself well through good technique and creating illusions. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Gerry, You're def right about the posing (illusions and technique) once you learn the secret to displaying yourself properly to the judges at the right angle and making it look fun. I've learned the hard way and got told by judges "Next time look like you want to be here" b/c I looked tired due to lack of sleep trying to burn my damn music the night before which ended in the am leaving 4 hrs for sleep. Be prepared, well rested and practice, practice to make the poses look as though you're not trying and that's how you look although it's an illusion. I spent 3 hrs last week working with an NPC judge to show me the proper way to display 1/4 turns, mandatory poses and even isometrics to make myself harder (more striations and vascularity). Worked great, I can't wait to put it to use in 2 wks when my last show of the yr is. |
