Accutane Linked To Heart And Liver Problems

http://news.worldfitness.ca/news/082...erProblems.php

In a study of over 13,000 patients, researchers found that the acne medication, Accutane increased cholesterol and liver function

Acne medication Accutane can increase the risk of heart and liver problems, a new study finds.

The drug has already been linked to causing birth defects.

In the study, 13,000 patients were given the medication. They found higher than expected levels of cholesterol and liver function.

“The incidence of abnormally high serum lipid levels during isotretinoin treatment may be greater than previously estimated," they wrote in the August issue of the journal Archives of Dermatology.
.
Although these abnormal levels can lead to hear or liver problems, levels soon went back to normal after the patient stopped taking Accutane.

The study findings were published in today's Archives of Dermatology.

Interesting stuff.
That's why I like the Retin A cream. Just as good as accutane

I like the fact that they gave specifics after the fact. I remember in college studying statistics and stuff, they were talking about these tests they perform on drugs. Let's say they gave the drug to 100,000 people. And out of those 100,000, only 1 person got diarhea. And the diarhea was caused by the person eating greasy fried chicken. Well, at that point, the drug company has to report "Could cause diarhea..." But when they get into specifics, it's easier to believe.
