I would personally go with AMD over celeron because its upgradable. The celeron comes as a set with the motherboard - might as well buy a whole new computer.

Any of those will honestly work fine. The only time things like that matter is if you are a hardcore gamer. For most of us who go on the internet and do a few applications, any new computer will work great.

My personal preference would be to go with the P4, as this is actually the fastest processor (AMD's tend not to run as fast as their spec) however, the AMD is 64 bit and will therefore take advantage of multi threading if you have a tendancy to use any CPU intensive applications designed for this (such as photoshop!). There are many applications that will be being designed for 64 bit CPU's and therefore its a good choice (also gaming will be designed for 64bit very soon). Only certain P4's have the 64 bit capability...

Oh and windows will be 64 bit compliant very soon! So go with the AMD...

Good luck...

Incorrect, a celeron processor can be upgraded just like any other intel processor or amd.

I would say get the AMD, to me there is no competition, the celeron should be out already, they are a poor performing processor. Either of those AMD processors will outperform the 3.0 p4.

If it were my decision I would save a few bucks and get the AMD 3200 I haven't looked in awhile but I think the price difference between the 3200 XP and 64 bit is pretty small so I personally would go 64 bit.

Celeron D sucks, it only has 256 cache
Pentium 4s, first P4's *mine* uses the Williamette core, P4 256cache, then a couple months later those fucktards moved it up to 512k and beyond.

Celeron sucks for gaming, and multitasking. I couldn't even load SOF2 on my friends Celeron 2.4ghz and it ran fucking fine on my oldass 1.59 p4. I play F.E.A.R. and SS2 damn well, and i'm getting Q4. wooee.

AMD is helluva lot better than Intel. look at this. vAMD VS INTEL

Even though that is the 64bit version of AMD and INTEL, it's pretty much the same for the 32bits.

PS: if your going to ask how i run my games, (new ones well)

I have a ATI 9700 Pro with a Zalman GPU heatsink, Model C.. and with the 80mm fan on top, plus ATI Tray tools, and some tweaks... Memory booster. etc

AMD athlon 64, blows any of those up. Pentium is crapping right now because of amd built in cache it makes it so much more powerful with much less ghz. I am running the 3200 right now and its more then fast enough and there are no games that i cannot play but i also have a geforce PCI-e video card and 1gig ram building your own computer is definately the way to go
