Are processes bad for your computer?

my laptop has been running slow lately. i did a reformat not too long ago on it, and store everything on a portable HD. i noticed when i press cntrl+alt+del and look under the processses tasks, there is a pretty good list of exe's running

i end them and they always come back

is there a way to stop these from auto starting?

There's a way you can change what programs automatically start up on a reboot. That is what's wrong you have too many programs that's slowing down your computer.

if you type msconfig the run box, you can go to the startup tab and shut off unwanted programs....just make sure you know what they are

Just make sure you make note of what you do each time so you can undo it if computer acts up.

The more processes that are running the more of your ram/processor you are using. What are the specs of your computer, it's possible that you could upgrade.
