It copies everything exactly the way you have it. Though Im not sure how this works. Im still experimenting with it myself. For you it should be simple, if your keeping all your hardware the same an just changing HD's. I would recommend getting Norton Ghost 2003. Remove all the unwanted trash you don't want to clone, then clone your old HD to the new empty HD. It stays exactly the same, exept you would gain a bigger HD. There was something else I did read tho. Sumtin about not letting it reboot to windows after the clone. That the registery would go nullified being that there would be 2 HD's with XP runnin on the same computer. Oh woops your using XP right? Bah nvm heh. Here check this link out it kinda explains some stuff. www.ghost.radified.com/ghost_4.htm |

Although like Nasir said you could uninstall all you don't need then image the drive but you would be better off with a fresh install. Your best bet is to download a warez version of win2k and use your own cd key on install. If you don't know your CD key there are programs out there that will extract it for you from the current install. Also if you use outlook or outlook express for email and IE for your browser there is a program called Express Assist that will back up all you email accounts, messages and address book as well as all your IE stuff like favorites and cookies. You can save all the music and other files you want to cd and then reformat and install w2k. Or get Partition Magic and make another partition on the same drive, if you have the space, and move the files you want to save there. Then reformat C and reinstall w2k and move saved file back and get rid of the partition or just keep it as is. BTW why do you want to format the drive? Is there problems with the install? |
