Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Installing OS on new HD (no disks) Hello everyone. I've got a problem. I just recently built a new computer, and used my old HD with a preinstalled XP on it. Now I have enuf parts left over besides the HD ,which I just purchased a Matrox 40g. So now i have this other machine built with no OS to run it. Thing is im broke an don't wanna spend $200 on XP. I have read about "Ghosting" so now I have Norton Ghost 2003 ready to go. Problem is im not sure exactly how to use this, for what I wanna use it for atleast. Things I have tried so far is ghosting my current HD (this one) onto the empty 40g matrox with this HD as the master an the 40g matrox as the slave. Installed it back onto my other computer(old computer) an booted it up, but xp won't go. In Bios it shows the HD as the slave an I recieve a few other errors as well. Also I have a WinNT boot disc. Not sure if that would make a difference but thought it couldn't hurt. Tried to boot with the disc but it said some error. Im open for any suggestions, pretty sure I have all the stuff to do this , but not sure the exact way. The motherboards are different on the two comps just to let ya know. Also this is a preinstalled OS I have no XP discs whatsoever, well besides the xp boot disc that I downloaded off the net. If you want system specs I can provide for each computer, I really need some help :cockblock Thx in advance. |
