How do I hide my IP address?

I am wondering if anyone knows how to successfully hide your personal Ip address. If anyone knows, please share with the rest of us.

It's possible to hide your IP address. Sometimes you can go through a free proxy (for web surfing). Some of them will "hide" your IP address, but they will always know what it is.

There is software out there now that claims to hide IP's etc. I have not tried any of it though. Google for "web proxy hide IP".

There are other ways to mask your IP, but if you have to ask, it's probably a bit too technical (no flame intended).

Anonymous IP address
Some of you use anonymouse web-based email to hide your identities. In conjuntion you should know how to use a proxi web-server that hopefully doesn't log.

Not all proxies are anonymous. Some proxy servers will intentionally
pass along the actual user's IP address in an HTTP header. If you see
your own IP address on any section of ipid.shat.net, that means the
proxy you're using isn't anonymous. If all you see is the proxy's IP
address, and the HTTP_FORWARDED_FOR section is empty, then the proxy
you're using is anonymous.
