Comp Help

anyone good with comps here? I came home the other day and my comp screen was on standby but when you moved the mouse or typed it stayed black.. So i thought the monitor was cooked, went and got a new one and the same shit, so i borrowed a buddies extra comp and it works fine with either monitor, so what could be wrong with my computer? i get nothing but a black screen, i got some shit i would like to get out of it if possible, anyone got any ideas?

Maybe put a new video card in it bro.... Does the cpu sound like it is starting up ???

yes the computer sounds normal, you think the video card could of shit the bed? i would think if it was a virus i would at least have dos mode right?

If the video card goes then it would not send any info to the monitor .. You could take it some where

Im almost positive that its only doing this becuase your computer is locking up from after it goes into standby mode. Search google for something along the lines of "windows locks up in standby mode" and see what you get. Ill try to look around. Basically you just need to disable standby and it should fix the problem.

What Joeyz said, it seems the computer is not waking from standby mode, i dont see this being a problem with either your video card or monitor but windows.

What are your standby settings?

I agree I think it is a computer freeze. I have had it happen to me

Have you tried turning off the power saving feature to diagnose that problem?
