sterilize by boiling water

i was wondering if you could sterilize vials by putting them in a pot of boiling water? i know people say in the oven but my oven is messed up. Vials are glass what temp. before they break or crack. Thanks for your time.

If you boil the vial it really should not break unless it has prior stressors. The reason why glass breaks is the rapid transition of temperatures. If you keep it in the freezer and then threw it in boiling water or if you had one side subjected to immersion and the other side was not (un-even heating). Your vial should be good until about 250-300 degrees celsius (500-570 F for us Americans) - Basically don't broil it.

Bro you would be better off just soaking them in alcohol and placing some foil on the top and heat them in the oven or get a cheap toaster oven till they dry.. The water will do the trick in a presuure cooker but not the boiling how are you going to get them dry....
