powder testing

does anybody know how the customs test steroid powders?? i am pretty sure they can't do it with a ph test like they do narcotics.they probaly got chemists working for them but how long you guys think it would take to find out what exactly a powders is.

good question, the testing labs that i heard about only do closed and un open vials, so im not sure if they test powders, and if they do it would be prob just as much to test it to buy it (depending on how much powder you have)

i am more intersted in the amount of time it takes probaly takes longer then 4 hours to test a powder and know exactly what it is

I would think that customs would have a kit available to do testing on the spot. I know most police officers have such a kit for narcotics. Its just sterile water and litmus paper. Depending on what color the litum paper changes, would tell the the type of substance they have.

I would guess that they use LC-MS or GC-MS. There are no "ready to use kit" to test all the different steroids.
