I see way to many ppl cault in a rut and they can't seem to get out of it, and they do the same stuff over and over again. I have read how Yates trains...he's pretty damn intense. Give an example of what your doing.

Today I did Bent Row Reverse grip 3 warmups then 1 set at 315 for six reps DB rows on incline bench 1 acclimation set then 100's for 7 1/2 reps Weighted Pull ups 1 set body weigh acclimation set then + 45lbs for six reps Pull over machine 1 set 180lbs acclimation 1 set 300lbs for 8 reps Dead lift 2 warmups 1 set 455 for 6 reps Rear Delts 1 set 35lbs acclimation set 1 set 65lbs for 7 1/2 reps Biceps Strait bar curl 2 warm up sets 1 set 135 for 7 reps incline curl 1 acclimation set 30lbs 1 set 65lbs for 7reps and that was it took about 45 mins to do

I haven't read much on Yates as of late, but if I remember right he believes that an all out effort is given to one set to complete failure rather than doing set after set. I think you hit the nail on the head with the mental part.....it's all mental, that's what limits us and our abilities to lift heavy weight. We get in in our minds we can do it and guess what, we can't. One must really focus on the mind/muscle connection.....that's why so many pros can get a huge pump just from doing a pose or contracting the muscle. They have a great mind/muscle connection and know just what makes that particular muscle pop. The mind is a key total in growing.
