Shoulder pain

I been benching heavy for quite some time and my form seems to be correct, but I am getting a pain in my left shoulder all the time. Any ideas?

Re: Shoulder pain

What is the pain like? Deep, sharp, stings? What part of your shoulder. A lot of guys will f up their anterior delts and form tendonitis or if it's the back of your shoulder, could be your RC. Does it hurt all the time, only after benching, while benching any other exercises. Give us some more info. Ice it after your workout, try and heat it and stretch it out as well or before you workout. Heat for no more than 15 minutes. Same w/ ice

Re: Shoulder pain

Hurts mainly in upper front section of the shoulder...kinda a stinging, burning feeling. worse after workout, but still hurts anytime I lift my arm out away from my side.

Re: Shoulder pain

I think Dapits prognosis maybe the closest- front delt / bicep tendoninits.

I have similar tendonitis in both shoulders from 18 years of slowly wearing them out.
Stretching the pecs will help as over time the fibers shorten and bring the front delt into a internally rotated position where they take on more of the load.
Also the external rotation exercises for the RC will make a HUGE difference- they look ghey but they improve shoulder stability and function a helluva lot.
ICE the area where you feel the inflammation to reduce the swelling, also I would suggest more dumbell work and less barbell for a time as it puts the shoulders in a less internally rotated position when pressing and works with the shoulder girdles natural range of motion.
Joint sups- glucosamine, MSM, bromelaine, boswellia, turmeric, Vit c, Cissus all will help assist in healing of the connective tissues.

Re: Shoulder pain

I went to a deep tissue message guy. I had some trigger points in my upper back, down my tricep, and where it attaches at my forearm. Two sessions, and I feel much better. He worked me over pretty good, and it hurt. Had a lot of leasions, and scar tissue. Worth a shot....:-)

I've been going to a chick who specializes in deep tissue, cross fiber, art, and myofacial release and it's amazing. A bit painful but it's seemed to help more with my injuries than PT and the chiro. I'll stick with the massages, they open you right up if they can get deep enough in! Beat up the layers until they get to the tears...nothing feels any better
