Re: question on compound workouts

i am trying to do as many compound workouts as possible and after scouring through the internet 3 hours and i am exhausted so i am just going to ask, how does this sound:
monday:
flat bench 4x8
incline bench 3x8
db flat bench 4x8
close grip bench 3x8
skull crushers 3x8
dips 3

wednesday:

stiff leg deadlift 3x8
hyper extension 3x8
bentover row 3x8
pullups 3
dumbbell press 3x8
barbell military press 3x8

friday
squats 3x8
leg press 3x8
lunge 3x8
barbell bicep curl 3x8
hammercurl 3x8

i am changing my workouts because my partner does to many toning workouts because he is massive so i am thinking about doing these on my own ...please let me know what you think, thanks .

Re: question on compound workouts

Not a bad work out Bro. I might keep my biceps with back and move the shoulders to leg day, although if you do leg day right you may not have the strength to do anything when you done with them. Also on back day I would put your pull ups first so your still fresh and it will help to warm up all the back muscles before you get into the main bulking movements.

On you chest day, I don't think you need to do BB flat and DB flat because its basically the same exercise. You might want to replace one or the other with fly's flat or inclined, I would also add in pec dec.

On shoulders don't forget the lateral and rear delts, they help to give you that nice round ball on your shoulder. Back, lat pull downs are awesome to build width as long as they are done correctly.

Legs I see you have all the good bulking exercises, however I don't see much of anything for hams or calves.

Biceps try incline db curls. Start the movement with the back of you wrist facing forward and then as you bring the dumbell up rotate your wrist until its facing you at the finish of the movement. This is good for working all the heads and in the incline position you can't cheat. Also don't forget the all important preacher curl. Just a few suggestions and I am by no means an expert, but since you posted I thought I would try and help you out a bit. :D

Re: question on compound workouts

I think Swamp has given excellent suggestions. With your DB flat bench and Flat bench on Chest day. I would suggest alternating them by weeks. This way you get a little bit of variety, you can do this for other excersizes as you see fit. Just to avoid the burn out.

Re: question on compound workouts

Well SG and LG have got it all down. The only thing I like is regular deadlifts vs stiff legged deads. Cause you still get the back workout, plus a few others. And I swear regular Deads have helped my strength in alot of my lifts. Good luck.

Re: question on compound workouts

thanks caturpilar i will try then both in the next few weeks only reason i was gonna try stiff legged is because it was on bodybuilding.com as a lower back workout and deadlifts it was showing just as a leg workout...i do feel it in my lower back when i do them though, still trying to find my weight on using those with good form, can't wait to do them though i love those and squats
