Rep Power: 5 ![]() | New study's (from AST) say that taking glycogen after a hard cardio session ALL goes to replenishing muscle, and it had no effect on fat burning. The body kept burning fat just as fast as compared to when you didn't take glycogen afterwards. I wouldn't go overboard with it, but I think if you're worried about losing muscle, that would be the way to go. Empty stomach then maybe half a bottle of gatorade (as an example, or a whole bottle maybe if you're a sho nuff' bigg'n) after cardio to help replenish muscles and store some fuel for your workout later in the day. |

Anyone who knows anything about training SHOULD know that you need to get something to eat w/ in 30 miniutes of your workout. No need to waste $$ on glycogen when you can consume a carb and protein drink instead. The most favorable ratio to restore glycogen and protein levels in the body immediately after a workout is a 4/1 simple carb to protein ratio. After Cardio and hard sport sessions i use a product called Endurox, it's set up just for this.

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | I've never really taken anything before my morning cardio except Xenadrine NRG. By the time i'm done with cardio, it starts kicking in. For posworkout nutrition , I get a shake of protein powder in water with some flax seed oil. I wouldnt drink a shake before cardio though, thats just my opinion though. --Hoss |
