deadlifts for reps

me and my workout partner have started this new thing where we will do reps on deadlifts (from the floor) at the end of our back workout....basically we will do one warm up and then one set with a moderate weight for as many reps as we can do...if you have never done it before give it a try it is a great way to just finish off your back...it can be very intense especially if you are trying to beat your previous best every week...i have done 405 for 14 and it about killed me...lol...my goal is to get it for 20...i think that would be a pretty good accomplishment.

hopefully that is a good holy shit...lol...the crazy thing is is that i have done 405 for 8 as a warmup on deads more times than i can count and i would have never dreamed doing 6 more reps would be that hard...my damn hams and glutes where on fire!!...maybe it has something to do with doing them at the end of my workout because i normally start my back workout with deads??

Re: deadlifts for reps

I would be afraid of breaking form being my CNS is trashed at the end of a heavy back workout.I pinched a nerve in my back doing pump sets of deads at the end of a workout. I was pretty much useless in the gym for a cpl months.

We do the same thing with 225 on the bench at the end of a chest workout. Its amazing how a weight you use at the beginning of the workout just to lube the joints and get the blood flowing becomes damn heavy at the end.

Re: deadlifts for reps

i did do it with chest. When I wanted to get a burn we'd try and hit 50 with 225 at the very end.
