Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Can some of the brothers on here help me out?I have been lifting for about 6 1/2 to 7 years, that's it no prior lifting what so ever.I had surgery in Oct.I was out about 10 -12 weeks. My prob is strength.Keep in mind i am not that strong but when i had surgery i was working out with 315 on flat for 6 to 8 reps for my last set.Now i have been back for 10 to 12 weeks and i am struggling with 315 i got it for 2 the other day and thought i was gonna blow a gasket. But not just bench i have noticed all my workouts seem to be lagging where they were.I am 36 and i guess that could have something to do with it.But it seems i am just in a horriable rut.All help dearly appreciated.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | It took you years to build that strength but it's amazing how quickly you can lose it especially after a long 10-12 week layoff. Just ease back into training and the strength will eventually come back. I had a real bad rotator cuff injury about 2 years ago which put me out of the gym completely for almost 3 months. I felt the same way you're feeling now and I kept telling myself: "Just take your time b/c it'll all come back." Sure enough, I gained most of my strength back in about 3 months. You'll get there bro. Just be patient. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | patience my brother, that is all you need because as pdogg said it will come back. it would definatly help to add some strength specific type training to your regime. there are plenty of programs that can get your strength up rather quickly on certain lifts, and IMO bench is right there w/ squats for lifts that can be drastically improved in a short time
