Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Assited Pull-Ups It's common for new trainees, heavier trainees, and trainees that do other lifts prior to doing their pull-ups to have a hard time getting enough reps. Some people just do pull-downs instead, other use the gravitron. But....but if you really just want to do pull-ups instead? Get a few jump-stretch bands and you can. It's simple, choke a band (a monster mini, or a light is enough for most people) around the pull-up bar, and put your feet in the bottom of the band. BAM! now you can get the reps you want. Another plus is the resistance curve of the band is just about what your bodies is for the movement. Iron Addict

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Assited Pull-Ups The reason most people dont do them is the same reason those same people dont do squats, deadlifts or any other taxing movement. They are weak minded and downright lazy. You'll hear all kinds of wonderful excuses, but most of them are b.s. You'll never get to doing reps unless you start with one. On a lighter note though, I agree that weight assisted is a good way to start as long as youre progressing. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Assited Pull-Ups When I couldn't get very many reps on pull ups, I put the exercise first or second on back day, then did 8sets of 3 reps....adding weight as I reached my rep goals. After a while I could do em for 12 or so reps. Plus it did great stuff for my upper back and rear delts. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Assited Pull-Ups The band-assisted pull-ups are great, especially if you are training alone. I personally prefer the partner-assisted variation though. This way you can have your partner help you on the concentric and then do the eccentric on your own. I've found this leads to faster increases in strength.
