Re: HIPAA Law

Sorry, I didnt read the last replies. If you lost your job I would find a lawyer. It will cost you, however the settlement could be well worth it. They have violated a major law. The fact that the girl admitted to this is HUGE. Im sure the docs office is sweating knowing she did this. You would have to be insane to not follow through with this.

If you get fired from your job from over this I would sue the doctors office. Your wife, mother, kids, friends, ect, ect.....cant even call and find out unless you have specifically signed saying that its OK for them to obtain information about you. In the unit I work it I cant even confirm a person is in the hospital without a password given by the family. They are very strict laws and you have every right to sue if they are not upheld.
I have never had an issue AT ANY HOSPITAL verify if so and so was in the ER.

that is about the extent of it i think.

wont she be the only one get in trouble not the Dr. since he didn't even know that she did it untill after she had done in? I still want the person that called the office to pay. It was the H.R. person (at my job) that made the first call.

not sure if you were at a hospitol, private dr (separate facility) or private dr working at hospitol, an attorney in order to collect as much as possible would go after all parties involved. That would increase the amount of the settlement negotiation...if it got that far. So to cover their ass they would let her go pending review etc. So it would look like other parties didnt know and took swift action as soon as they found out and try to deny liability. and and and on

Re: HIPAA Law

no the hospital or office will be responsible for her actions...I would contact an attorney and get a free consultation to see if you have a case....and when you do bring up all that you know and how it cost you the job.....
