Negatives-Question

Doing heavy negatives are more beneficial at the start of the workout or the end? Anyone

Re: Negatives-Question

i try to perform all my reps with a "controlled" negative.....but i'll really hit it up on my last 2-4 reps.......also....try using a static hold after you finish your set...it really sets the muscle on fire......

Define heavy:
Are you talking supramaximal negatives?? Definitely at the beginning.

At the start you have enough ATP/CP and CNS is fresh and ready for the onslaught. Negatives are mainly about tapping into nervous system and attempting to gain more strength from the extra stress.

Re: Negatives-Question

I think it would depend on your workout all together. Are you doing everything with negatives are just a few things? If it is something that is going to fatigue you quickly I would do them toward the end.

Re: Negatives-Question

Should you use one workout for negatives only, kind of a bridge between your max workout day and maybe a speed day??

Re: Negatives-Question

I would do them at the end. I know some of Kennelly's guys do statics every once in a while.

Re: Negatives-Question

I'm for at the end - I perform negative isometrics at the sticking points - I let someone else call out when to stop so its a surprise to me - you stop and hold for a couple of seconds - a real asskicker despite using submaximal weights - Dr. Fred Hatfield recommended LOL

Re: Negatives-Question

If Dr. Squat recommends them they are good to go.
