You can make your own chains fairly cheap.....

Bands are much more versatile. Sometimes I use them for completely separate exercises you wouldn't even think of. Try wrapping a couple of the smaller ones around the bottom of a freestanding pull-up station, and then hooking each one over a shoulder. Or doing snap-downs with a towel wrapped heavy band.

Also, they're much quieter, and make less of a spectacle. The only con I can think of is that once they over-accelerated me into a squat so fast I had a very embarassing sit-down.

Cheaper Brand of Bands

Woody's are the cheaper ones but they work just as well as Jumpstretch! Jumpstrectch does have some excellent video's though on how to rehab various injuries with their bands.

Agree both are useful depending what you are trying to accomplish. Fortunately I have access to both. But, I would say I do not care for the bands other that stretching techniques etc as they put you on a certain plane vs. chains do not.

Re: Bands v Chains

I use them both, like them both but tend to use bands more inthe gym when at home us ethe chains, tend to add weight to the chains. The other brand is ironwoody bands, they last longer b/c less dye and they are cheaper but the price is going up. After training with bands and chains you feel a difference in the end range strength and jumping power.

Re: Bands v Chains

I have used both, and think they both have their place. We seem to be using chains a lot more often in the bench and squat.

Re: Bands v Chains

In my opinion, bands are better at developing pure explosiveness and power, chains might be better at getting your lock out strength, but overall, bands are better

Re: Bands v Chains

Stretch bands are lighter, you can also take em on holiday with you too. I find stretch bands give a better pull then chains.
