No because ,

Thermic Effect of Food is the main benefit of meat and whole foods. Also whole foods offer far more in the way of satiety, because it takes much longer to digest them. Which also gives you the benefit of a constant flow of Amino's in the blood stream, which also.......Etc.....You get the food. Whole foods will always be supierior. whey only stays in your system for 1.5hours so you need to refeed more often to keep your metabolism going....meat protein digest slower so you stay anabolic longer.

It depends on how you look at it. Whey isn't meant to replace any hard protien source. It is a supplement. If you look at it for what it is it has the advantage of being lower in fat and cals for the same protien benefits. That is why BBers love it so much. If you compare this to what Faiz said I would argue the reduction in cals and fat probably outweigh the digestion advantage you recieve from meat products, you only burn cals in the lower teen percentage points from digestion and whey just has too low of a calorie/fat ratio to lose.

If we are talking about Tuna or Chicken breast then I might be wrong but it beats red meat for sure.

They both have their advantages. Simply speaking.........eat whole foods and add on some whey. Used in conjunction with a good training routine, you will see results.

Whole foods for sure. It also depends on which whey protein brand you buy. Take a look at ALL of the ingredients. When you start to find too many that don't occur naturally in foods like chicken and beef (it shouldn't take you long to get to these on the back label) put it back on the shelf. The closer you get to just a few ingredients past "whey protein" the better.

Re: Is whey protein better for you than meat? Why (or why not)?

The key word here is "supplement". Which means it's a suppliment to your diet and should not replace your meals. I think whey protein is best after a workout, because it is quickly utilized, where as food would take a while to digest before repairing muscle tissue. So, I would not suggest replacing your food with whey. Instead add it to your diet on top of your daily food intake.

Frot pre & post workout whey is better for ya. It get into the system faster being that it broken down one step further the whole meat.

Main meals should be meats, lean meats.
