Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Glutamine Glutamine Is One Of The Next Generations Of Supplements That Is Revolutionizing Natural Bodybuilding. Along With Creatine, It Is Setting The Standard For All Future Supplements. Glutamine Is One Of The Most Abundant Non-essential Amino Acids In The Human Body. Making Up Over 50% Of Amino Acids Found In Muscle Cells. Please Don't Let The Word Non-essenial Mislead You. Even Though The Body Can Manufacture Glutamine From Other Sources (thus Meeting The Definition Of Non-essential), In Times Of Stress (exercise, for Example) Glutamine Levels My Drop Dangerously Low. The End Result Is Aspiring Bodybuilders Worst Nightmare- Negative Nitrogen Balance Leading To Muscle Wasting. High Levels Of Glutamine Counteract This By Keeping The Body In Positive Nitrogen Balance- The Necessary Environment For Laying Down New Muscle Tissue. Besides It's Role In Preventing Muscle Wasting, Glutamine Stimulates The Activity Of Immunocytes-small Cells That Can Be Called The Garbage Collectors Of The Body. Among There Funtions Is Tracking Down And Removal Of Metabolism Waste Products. The Faster The Waste Products Are Removed, The Faster Muscle Recovery Takes Place. As An Example, In One Study Athletes Receiving Glutamine Had Half As Many Infactions Following Intense Exercise As Non-using Athletes. Not Convinced Yet? There's More. Depending On Glycogen Levels, Glutamine Can Be Converted Into Glutamate, And Then Into The Amino Acid Alanine. Big Deal You Say. Well It Just So Happens The Liver Can Convert Alanine Into Glucose, Wich Is Then Returned To The Muscle To Be Used As An Energy Source. The Process Is Just One Example Of What Biochemists Call Gluconeogenesis- The Production Of Glucose From Nonglucose Sources. Other Important Functions Of Glutamine Include: 1) Stimulation Of The Immunity System 2) Strucural Intergrity Of Various Organs 3) Fuel Source For Red And White Blood Cells 4) Role In The Molecular Process Of Transcription Finally, Glutamine Supplementation Helps Muscle Cells Maintain Maximum Volume By Preserving Their Most Abundant Amino Acids, Taurine And Glutamine. Clinical Studies Have Consistently Demonstrated The Role Of These Amino Acids In Muscle Growth. Protein Sythesis And Antiprotolysis (inhibition Of Protein Catabolism). If Glutamine And Taurine Levels Drop Below A Certain Point, Protein Synthesis Stops. This Means Zero Progress, And No Muscle Growth. How Much? Although The Scientific Literature Recommends 5-10 Grams Per Day, The Volume Of Anecdotal Evidence From Bodybuilders Suggests 10-20 Grams Per Day, And Like Creatine It Probably Makes Sense To Take Four 5 Grams Dosages Thruoghout The Day, Rather Than Taking The Full 20 Grams At Once. Not Only Does It Insure Better Absorption, But Also, For Many People, The Higher Concentration May Be Hard On The Gastrointestinal Tract. |
