I finished my second show Last Saturday...

I placed 3rd and now i qualify for provincials or for the american's (state championships next year)

anyhow i took a week of from the gym but my water retention is INSANE.. I have EDEMA, and not sure what to do....

This is what i used

Sunday ( 1 week out I started Aldactone)

Monday : Ald

Tues: Ald

Wed : Ald

Thurs Aldactone + Dyazide ( 2 pills)

Fri : Aldac + 50 mg dy ( 9 pm dropped water)

Sat (show) : Aldac + dyazide

So then i had a photo-shoot monday so

Sunday: Dyazide 2 tabs ( dropped water 7)

Monday : 3 am dyazide 1 tab

so know.... i ate pretty shitty this week

pizza was probally the worst but nothing crazy just alot alot of kcals...

my water is high but im holding water in my wrist, ankles aka cankles, face ,elbows... my abs are still in tact there is water but when i hit an abthigh i can bring all 6-8 out....

Re: Water- Retention question

u gotta cycle down from those diuretics. the more you take them the worse the rebound is going to be when youj finally do come off of them. the post show water retn is killer...painful and makes you sooooooooo self conscious. best advice i can give is to keep your water intake up. get OFF the diuretics..its gonna prolong and make the rebound worse. and try to eat clean again...binging is going to create that water retn. enjoy your cheats, you deserve them...but try to eat a cookie, not the bag. u know what i mean. also, get your cardio in. not sying to do 2 hours...but do something. the budda belly and cankles will subside - - as a female it usually takes us 4-6 weeks to go down for a guy, i'm sure its less. i'm sure an experienced male competitor can chime in w/ advice.

Re: Water- Retention question

Damn bro this bring back memories bro!!! Thsi has to be the worst feeling for any BB IMO!!! I have had it happen to me the last two out of three shows ive competed in brother and it is totally not a good feeling!!! do to the use of diuretics in comp your body will usually rbound pretty bad if you dont continue to run diuretics after ur show and taper them down so ur body doesnt react the way it did!!! i had this happen to me when i did southern states as a teen!!! I ran diuretics up till my show to lose water nad i discontinued there use after the show and i rebounded really bad!!! I think i gained like 25 lbs in like a week!!! I was so swollen that i couldnt even wear normal shoes do to water retention!!! I went to the Dr and he told me that i was suffering from what was known as third spacing i!!! i got back on some diuretics and continued there use nad slowly tapering down off of then and my symptoms were back to normal in like 3 weeks or so!!! Good luck bro!!!

Re: Water- Retention question

Go low carbs for a few days, only taking in lean meats, and green vegetables for carbs. Keep your water around 1 1/2 to 2 gallons.

The aldactone shut off your body's production of aldosterone, when you stop the diuretics the aldosterone levels rise far above normal and you end up with alot of water retention.

Like Mac said, taper off with the Aldactone, 25mg for a couple days, then 12.5mg for a couple more and stick to the low carb and keep water intake high. Remember when you load your water, your hpta detects the elevatod water levels and lowers the production of ADH.

Re: Water- Retention question

i've the same problem, and also me the same situation...
i've finished my last competition 3week ago, and imemdiately finish in only one week i have got added on my body , i think 7/8kg in some days after competition...i was very hugly and i had decided to do one week without carbs ( only cicken from breackfast to last meal before go to bad) and i had take higth h2o from monday 10 LT and i've dropped it step by stepo, but not deleted all (25mg aldactone in the morning and before bad) ...sunday i was agai with venis exc.. good status!!, but in this week i've reinsered carbs ( 150gr day) and vegetables, and i've cut aldactone, and now i've a lot of wather retention...and is very hugly to see!!! aaaaa!!

my diet now is;
meal 1
50gr oat
250gr yogurt "lite"and "white"
20gr cream arakidonic BIO
35gr protein whey
30gr of rice gallets

meal2
1 apple
40gr protein shake with whater

meal3
100gr integral rice
250gr cicken
6 nuts

meal 4 (1h30min before gym)
1 apple
1 banana
40gr protein shake with whater

meal5 (to my home after gym)
300gr red beef
vegetables

meal6 (before bad )
40gr protein whey
125gr yogurt "white and lite"

And if i'm still hungry usually i eat cicken...in meal 6

in this way i've 160/180gr of CARBS / DAY - 200+ PRO/DAY - 50+gr FATS/DAY

Re: Water- Retention question

seriously guys, this is how you know you had a bad diet program. SOME water retention is normal but not this. Ive experienced it before too until I found a good coach.
