A 14-year-old girl was seriously injured Friday evening after the car she was riding in crashed into a highway median and she was thrown from the vehicle.
The crash occurred on westbound Highway 4 just east of Port Chicago Highway about 9:10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 1998 Mitsubishi Montero, driven by Justin, 24, of Martinez was traveling about 90 mph in the fast lane, CHP Officer Scott Yox said.
For an unknown reason, the driver braked suddenly and lost control of the car. It fish-tailed into the center median and rolled over several times.
The 14-year-old Pittsburg girl, who was not named, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car, Yox said. She suffered major head and pelvic injuries and was taken by ambulance to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
The car came to rest on its wheels, facing the center median, Yox said. That is when a GMC pickup truck driven by Geraldo Chu, 52, slammed into the driver's side of the Montero.
Yox said Chu did not see the car and did not brake.
A second passenger in the Montero, a 13-year-old girl who was the driver's sister and the 14-year-old's friend, suffered minor injuries. Justin suffered minor injuries, including cuts to his legs. He and his sister were taken to another local hospital.

So I was at the hospital all night with the fam,
She had a punctured lung, hole in her stomach, cracked skull, bleeding internally, bleeding in the brain, bad news
They did a 7-8 hour surgery, patched the stomach, patched the lungs, drained the bleeding to the brain, took out a blood clot in the brain ...
only good news is my GF just went to see her when i was at work, and her eyes are now responsive which they were not at first, also when asked "if you can tell we are here move your fingers" she did when my GF asked her ... so good hopes are sure rising ...
if you remember her uncle just died a few months ago from blood bleeding in the brain, its like this shit just cant stop!! this family has some bad luck! but good people!!
But just keep spirits high and I hope she will be ok!!
p.s. i know, its her fault for not wearing a seatbelt!! :(
