What did your doc prescribe? Amoxicillin?
Save yourself the time and trouble, go to
Lambriar Animal Health Care - Home and pick up a bottle of doxycycline, or tetracycline and just take one a day. It will help dry up the sebacious oil glands and get the problem under control. In the meantime, make use of a tanning bed to help things a bit. A shower morning and night can help as well, just don't overdo it with washing too much, and over the counter acne medications as they will just overstimulate the sebacious oil glands and make the problem worse.
As a last resort, accutane, but this can be hard on the liver and will require regular labwork to monitor liver enzymes. You can actually get accutane from some of the "research" companies but this is a very harsh product and as a nurse I would not reccomend it unless your dermatologist says you need it.
